A wonderful trip for the explorer in all of us. We launch from a remote primitive site with no bathroom. We paddle through the Salt Marsh behind the Barrier Islands where we will hear Rails, see
Egrets and Herons, as well as a variety of Peeps.
We land on the northern end of Metompkin Island just inside the inlet between Assawoman Island and Metompkin. We have lunch here on the Atlantic Coast Beach, relax and swim in the Ocean and
collect shells along this deserted beach.
We return along the same route. This trip involves only 2.5 to 3.5 hours of actual paddling over the course of the day.
